lyrics

Blurry eyes blink open. Face down on the floor.
A deep breath ; the air fills my chest.
I step outside of the door.
I brush my teeth and my reflection and I
stop to pause and see if we can recall.
I sit down and close my eyes for a while
and think of everything or nothing at all.

A scene from a movie plays inside my head
and I wait until I see it again.
A thought floats around from behind my eyes
and I catch it with a ballpoint pen.

Flapjacks for breakfast.
"Can you please pass me the jar?"
Chapter 5 of '1984' and then I guess I'll play some guitar.
I call you up to say 'hello' and 'I love you' and
'today we'll have a wonderful life.'
Mom's upstairs and Dad is watching the news.
I step out the door and tell them 'goodbye.'

A scene from a movie plays inside my head
and I wait until I see it again.
A thought floats around from behind my eyes
and I catch it with a ballpoint pen.

I wonder if or when this chapter will ever end
and if I'll say 'goodbye' to everyone I call my friend...

I chill at Veteran's Park.
I get home by 12 or 2 or 3.
When are you coming home,
so I can kiss you on your red rosy cheek?

I brush my teeth and my reflection and I
stop to pause and see if we can recall.
I sit down and close my eyes for a while
and think of everything or nothing at all...
